Since I believe that art is one of the best ways to let out emotion, I decided to base a whole unit on how to express emotion, specifically through ceramic works. To help us express different emotions, new techniques were introduced at the beginning of each lesson for students to use on their projects. What I wanted students to take away from this experience was that it is perfectly normal to express emotion, and different ways of going about doing that in their art.
I also wanted students to know that ceramics was not just clay and glaze, but there were a lot more mediums that can be interlaced with ceramics- i.e. slips, engobes, horse hair, etc.
